One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, we know all too well the harm this virus can create. Harm to our health, our economy, our traditions, our ways of life. But Gwinnett Moms and experts everywhere agree: the COVID-19 vaccines let us work toward a brighter day.
Some think the risks of COVID-19 seem low. So why get vaccinated? Well, no matter your age or health, no one knows exactly how COVID-19 will affect them. If you get infected, you might have a life-threatening reaction. Even if you don’t, you could still spread the virus to your family, friends…or someone else’s mom, dad, auntie, or grandparent who you’ll never meet.
Why get vaccinated? So you can hug someone you care about. So we can get back to work. So kids can have birthday parties. So Gwinnett businesses can reopen. To honor the more than 1,000 Gwinnett County residents we’ve lost to this virus. The biggest “why” is that community-wide vaccination — combined with social distancing, masking, and hand washing — is our best chance of ending COVID-19’s spread.
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, and as of March 26, 2021, all Georgians 16 and older are now eligible to get one. So when when you make your appointment to get vaccinated, remember your “why.” And know that Gwinnett Moms are cheering you on.
